A Drop of Water

What happen when you drop a drop of water on the water surface? (tongue tied *)) Nothing special, right? Try magnifying that to a couple of X times and slow down the frame to about 2000 fps, what you see then is the true wonder of nature.

Kinda makes you appreciate nature a bit more, doesn't it?

Happy Halloween!

Trick or treat with cake pops! Thanks to the delightful and amazing creations at Bakerella and other creative cooks, we have decided to make them for Halloween. While our daring attempt to make the cake pops did not achieve as smooth texture as the talented confectionary artists, it tasted pretty darn good!

Here's how to do it yourself. Start by baking a chocolate cake. Any yummy chocolate cake. Most recipes call for a boxed cake mix, but scratch homemade recipe works as well. Bake the cake and let it cool completely on a rack. When it is completely cool, break the cake into a large bowl. We crumbled ours with our fingers and a spoon.

In a separate bowl, beat the 200 gms softened cream cheese, 100 gms butter and 1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract together. Gradually add in the 200 gms icing sugar and mix until light and fluffy. Scoup 2-3 spoonful of frosting mixture into the cake crumble and mix. Check to see if it will roll into a ball. It should be very malleable, easy-to-handle cake mixture. But if it needs a little extra moisture, add in another scoup of the cream frosting. We have only used about 1/2 of the portion into the cake crumbs, you may need more or less depending on the amount of your cake.

When the mix is ready, take a bit of the cake mixture and roll it into a smooth ball. Place it on a non stick pan / baking paper and repeat until you've used up all the mixture. As each pan/sheet fills up, refrigerate over a plastic wrap. We drew out a few characters while waiting for it to firm /harden.

We had left the cake balls in the fridge for about 2hours before taking them out to decorate.

Melt some chocolate or white chocolate for the coating. We had added a little oil based food coloring for the colors. Stir the melted chocolate well. Place a stick on the cake ball before dipping /covering it into the melted chocolate. At this point, stick the other decoration on the cake pop before it hardens.

Lastly, don't refrigerate the cake pops as it will cause the coating to weep or melt.

Happy baking and HapPy HaLLowEeN!

Michael Jackson Tribute

Can you sing & dance like the King?

1 hotel, 61 rooms, 21 artists and 1,000 ideas

What is it all about?

1 hotel, 61 rooms, 21 artists and 1,000 ideas

Hotel fox, Copenhagen, Denmark -the world's most exciting and creative lifestyle hotel where 21 international artists from the field of graphic design, urban art and illustration came together and poured their 1,000 brilliant ideas into 61rooms of 1 single hotel.

I, especially like the theme Sleep Season, wall art by Rinzen from Australia

“The Sleep Season room was inspired by the desire to hibernate (really!). It creates a cosy nook filled with animals sleeping through the seasons of the year. As the year passes, the animals sleep, blissfully unaware of their surroundings. A family of bears huddle around a winter tree, while a gorilla dreams in the freshness of spring. Out to sea, gigantic whales bask on summer waves and the autumn winds play havoc with hedgehogs and owls.”

...and theme Llama boy, wall art by illustrator Speto from Brazil.

"Naturally unpretentious. The Brazilian fashion designer Baixo Ribeiro helped Speto with the soft furnishings for his room, but did all the wall-spraying and drawing himself. Although he calls himself a “big child” and says his art is “naïve and innocent”, there is an acute sense of history, politics and the art of survival in his work: “I wanted a green room because I think it is a relaxing colour. Folk art will always hold a special attraction for people because it is innocent and unpretentious so we can focus better on the story.” "

Overall, I like the idea and design of the wall creations. Imagine, sleeping in the work of art.

How to boost National Service's Image

Dude from Govt : You have been drafted to serve the National Service!
You : What?! You are kidding right?
Dude from Govt : Nope, here's your letter, signed, sealed and delivered ^ ^.
You : *grumble...grumble...grumble...*

It is an open secret that National Service in Malaysia suffers from massive overdose of bad publicity. Is the remedy prescribed by the government working? HHhhmmm....not really.

You want to know what will definitely work? 2 words : GO JOE!

Read how the American Dream Team package their program to attract recruits. We guarantee you by the end of the presentation, you need not be selectively drafted for NS, you will literally volunteer yourself willingly. Now that's MARKETING for you!

Do-it-yourself : Choosing the right shade for your wall

Do you know which shades of color to choose?

Start by selecting a few options from the color chip.

Then, place the selected chip colors against the wall and as close to the flooring /tiles/furniture to allow a better visualization of the finished room will look like. If your wall color is darker than your current preferrence, place a white background behind the color chip. Then narrow the selection to 2-3 shades and purchase a sample quart of the each selected shades.

Use a small area for testing. Apply a layer of primer before testing the sample quarts. Then, test the paint samples. You can also do this process on a large foam board for portability allowing you to move the paint samples from room to room. One color may look amazing in one room / wall, but not on the other. (Depending on the lighting in the room)

Note, be sure to apply multiple coats of the paint to bring out the true color of the sample. Label the samples and leave it on the wall for several days. The colors will look different after it is dry.

Taking the time to go through each of these steps will ensure that you will love the end result!

Somehow, somethin' is missing... . Can you guess the missing item in the photo above?
